Biography Ono, Chikkyo (1889 - 1979)
Born in Okayama, Ono Chikkyo already became a pupil of Takeuchi Seiho in 1903. Already in 1916 he won a prize at the Bunten. Before WWII he worked together with Tsuchida Bakusen. After the war he became a distinguished artist, winning many prizes. He is primarily know as a painter; some of his paintings were turned into prints, and his most famous print series is a series of 10, illustrating scenery from BashÅ's famous trip to the North. This series was published in 1976. |
