Biography Shimizu Tohoru (1938 - ?)

Shimizu Tohoru 清水遠流, also know as Shimizu Tōru was born in 1938 in Toyama prefecture. He is a self-taught artist, who has mainly concentrated on woodblock prints, but who has also made screenprints. His subjects are mainly rooted in country life, and his work resembles that of of Katsuhira Tokushi (1904-1971). His woodblock prints are self-printed, usually on very thin washi.
