Biography Amano Taikô (1905 - 1999)

Amano Taikô (天野大虹) was born in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1905, and studied painting under the Japanese painter Yamaguchi Kayo at the Kyoto School of Arts and Crafts and the Kyoto College of Painting (now Kyoto City University of Arts). While working as a high school teacher, he won awards at numerous official painting exhibitions. He was also an active member of the Nitten. In 1927, he entered the Nishimura Henchosha's painting School, and in 1938 he also participated in Yamaguchi Kayo's Japanese painting school Shinchosha. He remained active as a painter and poet until his later years, and passed away in 1999.
