Biography Nagai, Kiyoshi (1911 - 1984)

Nagai Kiyoshi may be better known under the name of Tajima Hiroyuki. The artist was born in Tokyo and studied Western painting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He started with woodblock prints in 1946, and he was the founding member of the Nihon Hanga Undô Kyôkai in 1949. He used the name Tajima Hiroyuki for his more abstract, modern prints and Nagai Kiyoshi for figurative landscape prints.
